All three floors of the Co-op will be open to the public during the Art Crawl and will feature artwork and the opportunity to meet our artists. Our Co-op is home to over 30 working artists whose studios are also where we live. We include painters, photographers, printmakers, bookmakers, graphic artists, illustrators, ceramicists, a weaver, multimedia artists, performing artists, jewelry makers-- a host of artists that reflect a diverse range of creative media. Nearly all of our 30+ artists will be represented on our walls with many of our artists in person to sell their work directly. In addition, we will be featuring guest artists invited by our members and musical and dance performances by artists from the Co-op.

Lowertown Lofts Artist Cooperative will be open to the public during the Spring 2023 Lowertown Art Crawl (April 28-30) and will feature an entire weekend of music, dance, jewelry, gifts, even artisan hot sauce, and of course, a vast and diverse range of visual art, all created by us for you!

Lowertown Lofts Artist Cooperative will be open during the Lowertown Arts District weekend of the Saint Paul Art Crawl, May 13-15, 2022. Our building offers an entire weekend of music, jewelry, gifts, even artisan hot sauce, and of course, a vast and diverse range of visual art, all created by us for you!

Lowertown Lofts Artist Co-op member/owner Gaylord Schanilec is featured with artist Annie Hejny in the exhibition TREE TRANSLATION through November 21st 2021 at Red Wing Arts.

FULL ART CRAWL SCHEDULE AT THE CO-OP!

TWO/TOO features the work of LLAC co-op member/owner Ta-coumba Aiken and Leslie Barlow, two award winning artists from different generations. These artists explore and express life and identity in its richness, complexity, harmony and discord. In both art practice and advocacy, Aiken and Barlow are immersed in, driven by, and respond to the communities that surround them. In addition to a stunning survey of artwork, this exhibition will feature an interactive component designed by the exhibiting artists for the community to experience.

My Mighty Journey is the story of St. Anthony Falls, the only major waterfall on the Mississippi River, and the changes it witnessed over twelve thousand years. Written by John Coy and illustrated by LLAC co-op member/owner  Gaylord Schanilec, the narrative is written from the perspective of the falls. It recounts the people who lived nearby, the ways they lived, and how the area around the waterfall changed drastically over the past two centuries. Selected illustrations from My Mighty Journey will be on exhibit as well selections from Schanilec’s two most recent artist’s books: A Little Book of Birds and A Little Book of Flowers.
